Homework 15 Blog

After watching Food, Inc., I felt this image from Adbusters magazine was appropriate. It is a composite of all the locations of the over 13,000 McDonalds restaurants in the United States.

Homework 14 Blog

I was considering all the types of design that is taught and realized that I have not included architectural design. I have chosen two historic buildings that are considered to have "classical" design.

The first image is the Taj Majal, the tomb of a Mogul empress in India. It is considered to have such "harmony and fluidity that it stands as one of man's greatest achievements."

This second image is of the Empire State Building in New York City. Which was so well designed that it was easily repaired after a bomber crashed into it in 1945, and is considered the "world's iconic urban tower, a skyscraper's skyscraper." (Quotes are taken from "Wonder's of the World," LIFE, The Classical Collection, 2009.)

Homework 13 Blog

I found this image in the PDN Magazine in the award section for "Sense of Place."
My granddaughter recently received an orphaned 2 week old Chihuahua to raise, and when I saw this picture I thought of her. The wide eyed dog and angles leading to the distant crowd keep me interested.
I imagine the dog was playing with the ball and is just about ready to yap at me!

Homework 12 Blog

Since we just finished Project 3 on package design, I decided to post an image of a package design I found in the book, Design Basics by Joyce Rutter Kaye. I think my grandchildren would see this in the store and plead for these crackers just based on the package design.
